Description
Impress your neighbors and try growing a record-sized onion! The key is to plant Ailsa Craig early and never let it slow down. This heirloom variety was introduced in 1887 by David Murray, gardener for the Marquis of Ailsa, who lived on the small island off the coast of Scotland. Ailsa Craig does not store well, so enjoy it soon after harvesting. You can pump these up with lots of nitrogen and aim to grow them as large as basketballs!
