Description

We’ve made it easy for those who want to plant all three of our famous Long Day Sampler onion plant varieties, but may not have enough space to plant an entire bunch of each variety. Our Long Day Sampler bundle includes a minimum of four dozen onion plants consisting of a mixture of Walla Walla, Ringmaster, and Redwing onion varieties, providing a nice combination of color and flavor. The bunch may not have exactly 16 plants of each variety, but the bundle will have at least four dozen plants. Seed is mixed at planting therefore, we cannot guarantee the number of each variety. We will no longer offer samplers at case lot pricing. If you want a 30 bunch box of these three varieties, just order a mixed case.

Free Shipping on all orders! Exclusions apply to AK and HI orders over ten bunches; add $2.00 per bunch over ten bunches or $40 per case for shipping/handling.

PRICING EXAMPLE: 1 bunch Patterson + 1 bunch Sterling = 2 bunches for a total of $24.90. After 30 bunches, the pricing starts over. A 45 bunch order will be priced as a 30 bunch order plus a 15 bunch order ($118.50 + $83.25 = $201.75). *Alaska and Hawaii orders over 10 bunches, add $2.00 per bunch for shipping/handling.

Onion plant case lot discounts apply to single variety cases only (no mixing of varieties in the same box). Cases are field packed with the variety marked on the outside of the box. Multiple cases will be strapped together for shipment. For case lot orders, please include your UPS/FedEx shipping address. No PO Box deliveries, please. *Alaska and Hawaii customers: add $40 per case for additional shipping/handling. Have never grown onions before in southeast WI – was really happy with these. I only plant 45. Was able to harvest about 38, wide variety of sizes with great taste. Already ordered another set for next year.

I was very happy with my harvest last fall, in fact it’s February and I am still eating my own onions here in Alaska. Although the redwings did not get as large as the other two, they were superb in taste. I feel so accomplished as a gardener now; until I started purchasing your onion starts I never (really never) had success growing onions. Thank you.

This will be the first time Im ordering this particular variety mix, I’ve ordered Redwing and Walla Walla separate, never had Ringmaster. Looking forward to this nice selection of Long Day Onions for my zone in Chicagoland suburbs! I’m still eating my Redwings from last year I planted from your sets I brought. Keep up the fabulous work! Thank you!

I am in Veneta Or zone 8b and I ordered a long day variety onion pack. I got 54 plants half of which were very small and I am not sure if that is good or bad. I planted 2 inches apart because I will harvest for green onion every other plant. The only thing is I only got 3 red starts and not sure which was which with the other white onions because they were NOT labeled by type. I wish they had been labeled because I would have given Walla Walla onion more space when planting in my container garden. So I hope they do well as I tried my best to plant shallow and follow the directions perfectly. I have Neem oil on hand and will treat them, as a disease precaution every two weeks now that I have them planted today 4-17-2020. Overall the onion came in good condition and I am hoping for some tasty fresh green tops and onion bulbs this season.

Loved the long day sampler. This will be our 3rd year growing them.

  7. Stephen Mixon

Never had any luck with onions until I purchased your 3 variety sampler set. This was my second year planting them and I will buy your onion plants every year. They exceeded all my expectation.
Never thought I could grow onions like this in Billerica, MA.

Grew very well in Palmer Alaska. Still eating the onions. Didn’t get great size, but did get flavor and they store really well.

Gorgeous onions! 98% production rate here in Maryland 7a/7b zone.

In 2023, I purchased the long day sampler. It included walla walla, ring master & redwing varieties. The variation of storage time was what drew me to choose this sampler! (1 month for the walla walla variety, 4 months for the ring master variety & 8-10 months for the redwing variety). I still have at least a dozen in the cellar as of February 2024.

They were easy to grow and very low maintenance!

I found the starts easy to separate and identify, mostly because this sampler has a red variety, yellow variety & white variety.

I first harvested every other plant at a green onion stage because I planted a little too close together. At full harvest we had onions anywhere from 3” to 6”!

They worked out so well I Just placed my order for 2024!
